What we do
The clinker-built Storbåt Lyra is at the heart of everything we do. All our activities revolve around her, organised and run entirely by volunteers. In the summer, Lyra calls Halkolaituri in Helsinki home, and when she's not out on the water, renovations and winter storage take place at the Viapori Shipyard in Suomenlinna.
We work closely together with Viaporin Telakka ry (Viapori Shipyard Association). During the winter season, we head to the shipyard for volunteering sessions and workshops covering everything from wooden boat renovation and sail repair to rope work. And every now and then, we may even host a movie night in the atmospheric sail storage attic overlooking the Suomenlinna lighthouse.
Our activities are aimed at young people, but everyone is welcome. Our activities are self-organised and as non-hierarchical as possible. We are always happy to have new hands on deck.
Our activities are open to members, but you're also welcome to come along and get a feel for things before committing. In that case, just get in touch with the board to find out when and where to show up!

See you on the water!
Partnerships
Our goal is to promote and strengthen domestic and international collaboration in the field, and to make the world of traditional sailing better known. We are happy to collaborate with all like-minded parties promoting traditional sailing, and we're always looking for new ways to make traditional sailing more accessible.
We organise workshops for a wide range of groups, and our members bring a wealth of experience to the table. Our active members include seasoned tall ship deckhands, Sail Training experts and skilled workshop facilitators.
Got an idea or just curious about what we do? Don't hesitate to reach out, we'd love to hear from you!
